Christian Bloggers: Tell me a Little About Yourself

Something occurred to me recently. I spend a great deal of time writing on this blog, visiting other blogs and interacting with other writers, but at the end of the day, I know very little about any of you. What I do know is that there are countless Christian Bloggers in the world, I keep finding new ones every day.

So I thought today I would try something a little different, and see how many people participate beyond hitting the like button, in an attempt to really get to know each other. We are brothers and sisters in Christ after all.

Below I have several questions, pick one or more and answer them in the comments below. It never hurts to leave a link to your blog for those who are new to WordPress or blogs in general. If you don’t like these questions, no problem, just tell me a little bit about yourself!! So here we go:

1) Tell us about the day Jesus Christ came into your life?

2) What is one area you consider yourself an expert?

3) What was the best job you ever worked at?

4) What is your favorite article you have ever written? (Don’t forget to link it)

5) What are three words your best friends would use to describe you?

6) What is your favorite verse of scripture?

7) If you could share ONE Christian blog with the world, one that you found since you started your blog… which one would it be?

8) Name on person in your life who has influenced your walk with Christ the most.

9) Outside of the Bible, what is the most recent book you have read?

10) What is the funnest or weirdest thing about you, that very few people know?

Questioning My Calling

On Wednesday January 24, 2018 I was meditating on the Word of God. For the very first time in my Christian life of 11 years I heard the audible voice of God and this is what He said “One day you will raise a church”. This was something  that freaked me out, if I am being honest, Why? Because the voice I heard sounded just like my voice, so I had to ask myself… am I going crazy?

Keith and Ragesh
Rajesh and Me

Two days later on Friday January 26th at 9:50PM God gave me my answer. That night I met with my Christian Brother Rajesh who loves God more than most men I have met. I told him I thought God had given me a message… he was very excited to hear this and told me God had also given him one. When I shared the story, he just nodded and smiled… so I asked him what message he heard from God. He said, God told him I was going to be called into Ministry.

This BLEW me away and I started talking to different Pastors I know about this matter… there were so many questions I had… where do I start? How could he use me to Pastor? I have other plans for my life, this is insane!

Flash forward to today, nearly eight months later to the day, and I have not taken ONE step forward on the path to my calling. The excuse I give myself goes like this… College is too expensive, I want to go the Grand Canyon University but by the time I finish Seminary I will have a student loan debt of nearly $50,000… and my wife and I are really trying to focus on getting and staying debt free. I don’t have the funds to pay my way through College as I go, so I am just stuck for the moment.

But as I said that is just an excuse, maybe the real truth is that I’m afraid. Maybe the calling is too great. Maybe I know the man I have been in my life and don’t want to risk leading a church and then one day possibly falling back into pornography. Maybe I feel like putting myself on a stage to give a sermon is the last thing I need to do, my pride has been a huge struggle in my life… how much more prideful could I become at the pulpit?

When I sit here writing these thoughts out I can see how the enemy has filled me with doubts and fear. We know that our God is not a God of confusion, but of clarity. Back in January God gave me that clarity, then He waited to see what I would do… and now we know: Nothing.

But that nothing, has to end here and now. So today I reached out to Grand Canyon University to request the information I need to begin the fall semester. It’s time to start taking those steps forward and allow God to correct my path as I go.

Share Your Thoughts

Should someone who is called into the Ministry be concerned about the financial cost of Bible School?

Does God call the prepared, or does He prepare the Called?

Is it normal to doubt God’s Calling?

How many confirmations would you need to follow the Call of God?

Fellowship Friday #14 Have You Met These Christian Bloggers?

Welcome back to Fellowship Friday, a weekly post on Stand Tall For Christ where I will share four Christian Bloggers with you I have met from around the world. It is my hope by doing this you will discover some of the amazing men and women doing the Lord’s work and spend time in fellowship with them. I want to encourage you to visit their blogs, follow their blogs, comment on their blogs, share their blogs and ultimately grow spiritually from the time you spend with them.

Here are this week’s bloggers:

Joy Pedrow Ministries

Joy Pedrow Ministries: “The love I discovered in Jesus gave me a passion for women’s ministry. In September 2013, I launched Joy Pedrow ministries with the goal to lead women to Jesus. Now, I am living in Dallas and attending Dallas Theological Seminary. I dream about a world where every woman has experienced the life change of Jesus. I desire that they feel his power, trust him with their life, and experience healing. And shame exists no more! I pray that every woman would know that they are loved by their father in heaven.

Hope Without Wavering

Hope Without Wavering: “My love story began February 24th 2013 when the Lord scooped me up and called me His. I’m 25, married to a man I don’t deserve, and am currently aspiring to become a full time wedding photographer. We live in the sweet and overcrowded city of Austin, Texas and plan to stay here until the Lord calls us somewhere else. My prayer with this blog is that He would use it for His glory. And to keep me sane because a girl will go crazy if I don’t get all these feelings out. Let’s be friends!”

JW Wartick

J.W. Wartick: “Hello! I’m J.W. Wartick and I created this blog with the sole intention of writing apologetics. Christian Apologetics and Philosophy of Religion are my passions, and God continually opens new opportunities in this area. I have received an MA in Christian Apologetics from Biola University.”

Rob Lundberg Apologetics

Rob Lundberg Apologetics: “Christian apologetics is for every believer, and not just for a select few. When Peter wrote to the church, he wrote to all Christians. First Peter 3:15 tells us that we are ALL  called “to give a reason” for why we believe what we believe (1 Peter 3:15-17). It is not an additional upgrade to a version of Christianity nor is it for a special elite group of believers. Our goal and desire is to equip you with the ability to articulate your Christian faith to the happy cultured pagan, challenging them to think upon and allow, with the conviction of the Holy Spirit, come to believe the truth of the gospel and trust Christ alone for their salvation.”

Thank you for taking the time to check out these Christian authors, all doing Kingdom Work in the name of Jesus… AMEN! Check back here every Friday for another installment of Fellowship Friday with all new bloggers from around the world.

Want to submit your blog to be featured in a future edition of Fellowship Friday? Or maybe you are familiar with a blog that deserves to get noticed? Send me the information below… I do not promise to feature every site I review… but I sure do love to meet new Christian bloggers!

The Tragic Story of Anna Bright

This is the heart breaking story of Anna Bright, a 14 year old girl from Alabama who killed herself after binge watching the entire first season of the Netflix Original Series “13 Reasons Why”, please spend the next six minutes watching the video above.

There is absolutely no question in my mind, that watching that show directly influenced Anna’s choice to take her own life, and her mother is exactly right in warning people about what they watch. The TV shows, movies, video games and music you choose to enjoy can have a major impact on your life… and if you make the wrong choices, a very negative impact.

As Paul wrote to the Philippians… “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

If you want to participate in the AFA Action Alert and sign the petition to have Netflix drop this show… Click Here.

Anna Bright isn’t the only child to take her life after watching this show either, two other teenagers did the same thing days after watching…

The Scariest Words Jesus Ever Said

You know the verses, you have probably heard them your entire Christian life, but when is the last time you really meditated on the words of Jesus Christ found in Matthew 7: 21-23? Here are the verses…

Matthew 7:21-23 (ESV)

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

Understand the context of this verse. Jesus is referring to His “followers”… or at least those who claim to be followers of Jesus. This is a startling proclamation from our King that should give us pause. In our culture today, where people are taught to say a “sinner’s prayer” and they are saved… where hyper grace doctrines are being pushed at every turn… where many are seeking to live their BEST LIVES NOW…

In our culture it is almost a crime in the Christian community to speak of this truth: MANY Multitudes of “Christians” today are deceived and unknowingly on a path to Hell. You see scripture is very clear… Jesus was VERY clear…

Matthew 7:13-14  (ESV)

13 “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

According to PEW Research nearly 70.6% of Americans self identify as Christians. That means that out of 325 Million Americans, 227 Million think they are going to Heaven. Yet Jesus tells us that the path is NARROW and FEW will find it.

So where is the breakdown?

What are Christians missing in this equation of salvation? This gift freely given by God. John 3:16 famously reveals “…that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” ~ Emphasis mine.

So is that it then? All one needs to do is believe in Jesus? What does that mean to believe in Jesus? Does Satan believe in Jesus? Do the demons believe in Jesus? Is salvation then just an intellectual exercise?

I would argue that salvation has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with what you have brought yourself to believe in your mind, and has everything to do with the condition of your heart. In fact, let’s go back to the Gospels, in the book of John chapter 3…

1 Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.” 3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

Here Jesus clearly indicates a requirement for those who wish to live in eternal paradise with God, they MUST be born again. This goes beyond a mental exercise of simple belief and delves into a transformational relationship with the Holy Spirit of God. You must DIE to your SIN… another way of saying it… you must repent or “turn from your sin” towards God. This is not to say you become sinless or perfect when you accept Christ as your savior. But every Christian should be in the process of change, where we grow more and more Christ-like the closer we draw near to God.

If you have been a Christian for some time, and you still find yourself living the same life you always lived, you may need to examine your life closely. This is what Paul exhorted the church members of Corinth to do… “Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test!” ~ 2 Corinthians 13:5

Brothers and Sisters, if you said a prayer years ago, and just accepted what people in church said about your eternal destination, I would strongly encourage you to follow Paul’s advice and evaluate your relationship with Jesus. If you find yourself running joyfully into sinful behavior or with little regret when you transgress God’s law… you have a real reason for concern.

Most Americans take the time to be absolutely certain of things far less important than their eternal destination, don’t make that mistake. Eternity is a very very long time.

An Open Letter to Porn Addicted Christian Men

Dear Brothers in Christ,

On this blog I have written extensively on the harmful effects and devastation that viewing pornography brings into your life. I have shared my testimony of how pornography addiction nearly destroyed everything in my life… my marriage, my job, my health, and my position in the local church.

Today I want to write to you, man to man, brother to brother. If you are caught up in a secret habit of pornography it is time to take a stand and bring it to the light. I know what you are thinking… you can never tell anyone, it would ruin everything. Your wife would be devastated, your marriage might fall apart, you might lose your job, you might be shamed at church, your children… what would they think?

You need to understand something… all of those thoughts are not your own… they are whispers from an enemy that wants to destroy EVERYTHING in your life. You see the enemy wants you to keep everything hidden away in the darkness, this is where sin grows. They know if you bring your habit into the light of day, the hold it has over you will evaporate.

Believe me, I understand how incredibly difficult it is to tell ANYONE about a secret porn addiction… but that is exactly what you need to do, before it is too late. If you find yourself mindlessly watching porn with deep levels of regret afterwards you are addicted my friend… and just like any other addiction you need to take it very seriously.

At this point there is no question in my mind, if this article was written for you, that you desperately want help, you desperately want to quit this habit for good. So where do you go from here? The first step is to STOP watching porn, which means you will need to get some digital protection on your devices… RIGHT NOW. There are many programs that help in this area, but as you may know from reading my blog, I highly recommend Covenant Eyes which I have personally used for years with great success. Get something installed on your devices as soon as possible, you need to put defensive walls up quickly.

Next you need to come clean about your addiction, this is going to be the toughest step at first… but once you take it… the most exhilarating and life changing. You have to decide who you are going to share your struggle with. My advice is to seek out trusted counsel within your local church, preferably a member of the Pastoral staff. Most churches today either have programs to help you, or a list of other churches in the area that do. Once you have sat down with your Pastor, it is time to prayerfully approach your wife. You  need to be honest with her about your addiction, and commit to her that you will get the help you need. Show her the steps you have already taken (the software and the support group), deeply apologize to her – she will be in a lot of emotional pain at first… but if you approach her prayerfully it is my hope she will come along side you to support you in your recovery.

You need to realize something very important, in most everyone’s eyes pornography IS a form of adultery… it is certainly the case in your wife’s mind. This means, Biblically speaking, she has every right to divorce you. Let that sink in for a moment. She could divorce you, take your children and she would have every right to do so. This is the incredibly dark and destructive nature of sin… particularly sexual sin. So it is VERY important that you get on your knees in prayer to the Lord before you have that conversation with your wife.

The last thing I want to encourage you to do is download and read my ebook Shattering the Chains of Sexual Addiction. This book is free and a very quick read… it outlines everything I have done to break free of porn. When Jesus shattered those chains in my life, I knew a huge part of my ministry was going to be helping other men find that freedom.

It may seem like you are so lost in your addiction that there is no way out. OR even worse you may think you can continue to hide your addiction and no one will find out. On both of those points you are DEAD WRONG (take it from someone who has been on the path ahead of you). You are never SO lost that Jesus Christ cannot restore you… and if you continue your life of hidden sin, you WILL be discovered… it’s only a matter of when.

Brother, you don’t have to live in darkness anymore and as a Christian man God wants and expects more for you… He wants you to live a life of victory. If you want to talk one on one, you can email me anytime… I will be here.
